Peter West has a strong background in electronics, mechanics, chemistry and physics making him a great asset to the magic community. After years of successfully creating equipment for his own productions, other magicians began seeking his assistance.
The equipment Peter creates is known to be well engineered, efficient and rugged enough to withstand both travel and handling abuse.
For more information on some of the equipment/devices Peter has created, please read the stories of David Reid's Levitation and Bill Andrews' Ball Star

The Levitation
Magician David Reid owned equipment used to levitate an assistant in his stage show. This device was driven by a 120 volt motor but could only be operated by his assistant via a short cable. In order to be completely effective, David needed to lose the tethered switch and control the unit himself. He came to Peter hoping for a solution.
Peter designed and built an electronic interface that functioned exactly as David needed. Using a system of digital wireless devices, timer circuits and a custom engineered power supply, Peter created a 'smart' controller David can rely on everytime he pushes the 'magic' button.
The device you built for my levitation is really incredible. I don't know how the electronics work and I love that I don't have to. All I have to do is push the button on this remote and the levitation comes to life. When I see it in action it feels like real magic.

The Ball Star
When magician Bill Andrews was going to be honored as 'Magician of the year' he wanted something special to perform at the award ceremony. Bill explained his idea to Peter for an effect based on the well known 'Card Star.' He wanted Peter to create a device that would operate without interaction by anyone on stage or have any wires/cables running to or from the unit.
In the routine, Bill would make several balls vanish. At his command they would each reappear in sequence at the tips of a large star. Bill named this device the 'Ball Star'.
Using aircraft grade aluminum, Peter fabricated a 3-dimensional 5-pointed star along with a pedestal to support it. The unit uses sealed lead-acid batteries, digital wireless devices, plus an array of solenoids, switches and relays to control each of the independant spring loaded production arms. The 'Ball Star', now considered a collectors item, is one the magic industry's most unique electromechanical devices.
The 'Ball Star' illusion that you created for my appearance at the Tribeca Theatre in New York City is still the feauture of my show. Audiences love this segment and I have you to thank. I am forever amazed at the genius of the 'Ball Star' and always look forward to performing this piece.
